Industry News: Florida Writers Conference featured in The Writer!

August 11, 2012

This week, the Department of Justice didn’t sue anyone new in the publishing industry for collusion. Joe Konrath didn’t rant about traditional publishing (or if he did, he didn’t say anything new). And this week’s gloom and doom about the industry was largely the same as last weeks.

That means we have time for the really important news.

They like us! They really, really like us!

Your Florida Writers Conference will be featured in the September issue of The Writer! The Conference Insider column features a one-page preview of this year’s festivities (October 19-21 at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary–it’s a great conference, but it won’t be complete without you).

Since 2004, the conference has grown tremendously, from 202 attendees to an estimated capacity of 600 people this year! Six hundred writers–almost exclusively from Florida–all in one place. This year’s keynote speakers are Julie Compton, author of Tell No Lies, Rescuing Olivia, and some really outstanding blog posts on this humble corner of the Internet, and R.J. Ellory, author of international bestsellers like Candlemouth, The Anniversary Man, and his most recent, Bad Signs. We have six agents, eight publishers, and more industry experts than you can count on two hands and a foot.

But don’t let me steal all the thunder, read about it in The Writer.
