Critique Faculty: John Pelot
John Pelot, a native Floridian, studied marine sciences at the University of South Florida before transferring to Eckerd College in St. Petersburg and earning a BA in English with emphasis in creative writing. Since graduating from the University of North Carolina with an MFA in creative writing, he has taught English at Guilford Community College and been an adjunct for High Point University. Currently, he is a professor of English on the Charlotte Campus of Edison State College.
He has published poetry in many local and national periodicals including the Greensburg Review, Sierra Nevada Review, and the Sandhills Review. His awards include a first place in the O’Henry Awards, second place for the Guy Owen Prize from NC Charlotte, and the Robert Ruark Award. He has received the NISOD Excellence in Teaching award twice: in 1995 at Guilford Community College in Austin, TX, and in 2009, at Edison State College.
CRITIQUES: General Fiction; Sci-Fi; Poetry (20 pages). Professor Pelot will be doing critiques for writers who sign up with their registration. Look for the Critique Form on the Registration Page. Look for the Critique Form on the Registration Page. The cost is $40 (paid with your registration) and includes a written assessment and a discussion with Prof. Pelot at the Conference.
