What do you want for Christmas (or whatever holiday) this year?

September 20, 2012

This year, we’re going to publish our first (hopefully) annual holiday guide for writers. I already know what I want: a pain-free left Achilles tendon, a literary agent of my very own, and fresh blueberries all year long. But that’s just me. One of those gifts isn’t a gift at all, but the result of hard work. The other two aren’t very writery.

So we’re putting together a wishlist of writing-related items you’d like to receive this holiday season. Is it a new laptop, or maybe some cool gadget? Perhaps it’s a sound-proof booth that locks from the inside so the kids don’t bother you. (Good luck with that.) Perhaps you’d like a guided tour of the Red Room of Pain or a night on the town with Jack Reacher or the sexy vampire of your choice.

More realistically, maybe it’s a Starbucks gift card so you can go there and write, or noise-cancelling earphones. Maybe you’d like a copy of the latest Writers Market or a subscription to a writing magazine. Or perhaps you’d like to attend a writing seminar of some sort.

From now until December 1, you can drop me a line and let me know what you want under the tree this year. No idea is too crazy or frivolous, but we’d also like to get some real ones, too. We’ll publish the best ideas in December.
