Announcing our New Bloggers

December 8, 2011

In addition to wonderful guest blogs recently by Bria Burton and Gayle Swift, we recently welcomed Kerry Carson, who’s writing about screenplays.

Today, we have the great pleasure of announcing two more permanent bloggers: Julie Compton and Mary Ann de Stefano.

In addition to being the Person of Renown for the new FWA Collection, Julie is a successful, acclaimed author. Her most recent novel, Rescuing Olivia, was praised by several inconsequential publications, like Publisher’s Weekly and Kirkus Reviews. Kirkus Reviews also praised her first novel, Tell No Lies, giving it a starred review.  The Guardian (UK) and a plethora of other publications praised it, too.

Julie’s originally from St. Louis, where she grew up with five brothers, got a law degree, and rooted for the World Champion Cardinals. She’s also lived in Boston, Philadelphia, and now Orlando, where she lives with her husband, two daughters and her motorcycle.

Starting after the first of the year, Julie will blog every other Thursday about topics of general interest to writers.

Mary Ann is the brains behind MAD About Words. (Get it? Mary Ann de Stefano…MAD About Words?) She’s also the driving force behind the regular Florida Writers Association e-news and the Florida Writers Network, a private online community for Florida Writers Association members.

MAD About Words provides editorial, design and marketing services, writing workshops, an online writers community and a free newsletter (a good way to get to know them better.) She’s worked with FWA on establishing and running the network, and creating and sending our online newsletters and surveys. You should also check out the cool clock widget that appears all the way at the bottom-right on any page of her website.

Mary Ann’s first post appeared yesterday and she’ll blog the first Monday each month, writing primarily about revising your work.

Adding new writers to the blog will help us to increase the viewpoints and knowledge we can bring you on a daily basis, as we try to add value to FWA members and non-members alike.

If you like what you see here, please check out the FWA website, as well.

Looking forward to it! If readers have anything in particular they’d like me to discuss, or questions, whatever, please send them along!
