Exercise Wednesday: Success!
Tomorrow, the whole yearly spectacle of the Florida Writers Conference starts with the Florida Writers Foundation’s Celebrity Fundraiser. During the conference, many friendships will be forged, many cookies will be eaten, many pants will become tighter…and hopefully, many writing success journeys will be launched.
Today’s exercise is focused on the most important character in your writing work–you.
Today, we mix our writing exercise with a little bit of pop psychology. Today’s exercise is simple–define success for you as a writer, then write the scene where it becomes apparent you’ve reached it.
It might be winning the coveted Royal Palm Literary Award, or participating in your first book signing. It might be opening your email to find a contract for an agent that you have to sign and send back. It might be holding your book in your hands for the first time or seeing your listing on Amazon. Or maybe it’s that first stellar review.
What’s that going to be like for you?
Write it, then put it on your computer desktop or staple it to the wall in front of your writing spot.
Time limit: 20 minutes
